I like the concept behind this. Very straightforward, but clever.

Thanks very much for your thoughtful comment Alastiar.

Its a simple but robust protocol. An application I'm quite excited about is the ability to offer a communications protocol that matches the way we address a paper envelope --- there are a number of countries, such as switzerland, who's postal systems offer a certified electronic messaging service --- even the ability to get physical mail delivered electronically. The way that I've designed the usage of the top level domain every address in every country on every continent can be addressed in a standardized format.

For example - this is my old apartment in Tokyo:

http://11-4.maruyamacho.shibuya.tokyo.asia.st/

this would be the way you could send a certified message or initiate a FaceTime call turning that into a valid and disambiguated email address:

sean.kean@11-4.maruyamacho.shibuya.tokyo.asia.st

later I moved to Denmark, and would have therefor routed all my mail to my next address in Copenhagen :

http://sollerodgade.42.norrebro.cph.dk.europe.st/

sean.kean@sollerodgade.42.norrebro.cph.dk.europe.st

eventually I moved back to NYC, into this building where the idea for all of this was born two years ago after i set up a social network for the building that became the top search result for the location on google, prompting the management company to call me and tell me how important it was for them attracting new tenants and effectively communicating with current ones:

http://345.eldert.st.brooklyn.ny.us.america.st/

and so finally, I would have my mail and video calls forwarded over to sean.kean@345.eldert.st.brooklyn.ny.us.america.st

As a former preschool teacher I wanted to design technology that is easy enough for a child --- or my mom --- to understand. Streetnet is infrastructure in that aspirational effort - and I invite others to build on top of it.

As streetnet creates a web of the physical world - I thought it was fitting to consider how to design a new type of mobile browser to experience it through - please sign up to be notified when HERE - the physical world browser launches at http://here.st

Thanks!

I love how straightforward, simple, yet innovative this app is. It could be used in everything from the postal system (which needs some new life, desperately), linking maps to physical space, finding an apartment, finding a job, advertising, to any number of uses.

I'm looking forward to it becoming a part of daily life.
